Why Choose Us?
Backcountry Comfort
At Solitude River Trips we believe that just because you’re in the wilderness doesn’t mean you need to sacrifice comfort. We provide deluxe four person tents that make spacious double occupancy river side homes. Our comfortable combination of raised cot, plush sleeping pad, full sized pillow, and freshly laundered sheet and sleeping bag will ensure you are able to recharge between days of rafting, fishing and exploration. Our specially designed river shower provides the opportunity to enjoy a warm, private shower in the evening. Large, supportive chairs will allow you to enjoy your time around the dinner table and camp fire each evening. Lean back and enjoy the beauty of the Middle Fork on one of our oar boats or fishing rafts outfitted with inviting back rests. At the end your trip you will be transported back to your point of origin on our luxurious 32 passenger private shuttle bus.
Wilderness Gourmet
We pride ourselves in our backcountry cooking skills. Cooking over an open fire using our custom made long handle “Mr. & Mrs.” pans, we serve up some Solitude River Trips classics like 2” Bone-in “Petite” Pork Chops, Wild Caught Sockeye Salmon and Hand Battered Fried Chicken. No backcountry kitchen would be complete without dutch ovens and ours turn out favorites like Scalloped Potatoes, Sunrise Vegetable Breakfast Strata, gooey Cinnamon Rolls, and Strawberry Vanilla Calcutta Cake. Our freshly roasted coffee is sourced locally in Salmon, ID from Odd Fellows Bakery. In over thirty years of packing food into the wilderness we have developed a system that allows us to provide fresh food, including fruits and vegetables, throughout the entire six day trip. We will happily accommodate any dietary restrictions you may have.
Our Guides
At Solitude we know that a river trip is only as good as its guides. Without our team of highly skilled, passionate, knowledgeable, personable and professional guides we would not be where we are today. We do more than just navigate rapids, tie on flys, and cook amazing food. We pride ourselves in sharing our extensive knowledge of the Middle Fork in the hope of promoting visceral connections between each guest and their natural surrounding. Our guides are knowledgeable companions, excellent fishermen, experienced boatmen/women, and well-compensated service professionals. These safety oriented individuals are trained in wilderness medicine and swift water rescue. Many of them are true stewards of the river, having guided hundreds of fly fishing and Middle Fork Salmon River rafting. Here’s to hundreds more!
Convenience
From the first inquiry until the last goodbye, our goal is to make your wilderness vacation as seamless and worry-free as possible. Our curated rafting and fly fishing trips have provided the most unforgettable wilderness vacation experience for thousands of our guests. We will be there to guide you throughout your entire journey. From assisting with pre trip travel and lodging to delivering you back to your hotel on the final day, we will offer our extensive knowledge of the Middle Fork and the wilderness gateways of Stanley and Salmon Idaho. Our round trip transportation from Stanley, ID (for trips departing 6/5-7/17) or Salmon, ID (for trips departing 7/25-Sept) means you won’t have to worry about having your car shuttled from one place to another while you are on the river. We look forward to welcoming you into our Solitude River Trips family.
All Inclusive
You won’t need much other than your personal belongings. Our all inclusive trips are designed to make your experience as trouble-free as possible. Along with outstanding guides, comfortable accommodations, great food, and everything else you’d expect on a river trip, we like to take it a touch further. At our orientation meeting we will provide you with your very own Solitude River Trips duffel bag, insulated water bottle, and coffee mug for you to use on the trip and enjoy when you return home. If you join one of our fly fishing trips, our professional guides will supply you with premium Orvis fly fishing gear including rods, reels, leaders, tippet and our favorite flies. And because nobody likes hidden fees, our trip prices include all fees associated with recreating on public land.
A Final Note
Solitude River Trips has been providing safe, professional, and unforgettable Middle Fork Salmon rafting and fly fishing trips for over 30 years. Since 1990 we have dedicated our lives to offering the greatest river trip vacation in North America. As a small, family owned and operated business, we can assure you that 100% of our focus is on YOUR trip. We operate one trip at a time, on one river. This means we can provide you with our best guides, our best gear, and our best trip planning. We do not spread ourselves thin and we treat our guides and employees like family. We believe that by doing so we are able to offer a level of unmatched guest service that keeps our guests coming back year after year. At Solitude we consider the Middle Fork of the Salmon River home. We would be honored to have you as a guest on our next adventure.
